October Series (10/5 - 10/26 2010): Rhythm and Axes
Progressive series with Leslie Gordon
Everyone will learn to lead and follow.
7:00-8:00 Fundamentals- Playing with Rhythm:
Have you always wanted to try tango, but never had the time, or maybe you have some experience, but would like to try the other role, or just work on the fundamentals to help your more advanced mores? This class will work on those tango fundamentals, teaching you how to survive on the dance floor and have fun doing it.
Pauses and accelerations add flavor to your dance. You will learn to personalize your tango with these changes of rhythm as both a lead and a follow using very simple movements. We will also introduce you to the other 2 rhythms in tango: vals and milonga, and learn how to have fun with these dances.
8:00-9:00 Fundamentals- Practica
Stay for the practice led by some of the advanced students. We will review the material from the first class, and other tango basics.
8:00-9:00 Intermediate+- Mastering Axes:
Effortless advanced moves require controlling your axis, and helping your partner with his or hers. We'll take some time to correct common axis problems, AKA "How do I make my partner feel great and feel great to my partner?". Once we get on axis, we'll move off-axis and explore common colgadas, or "How to play with the hang".
