Argentine Tango
Argentine Tango was born in the late 1800's in Buenos Aires, and has been changing and evolving ever since. It is a beautiful dance form that provides endless opportunity for improvisation and playfulness.
November-December Series (11/10-12/15 2009): Musicality
Progressive series with Leslie Gordon
Everyone will learn to lead and follow.
f you've had limited or no exposure to Argentine tango come to the first class., and stay for the practice led by some of the advanced students from 8-9. If you know the basics, but feel a bit rusty, or haven't danced the other role, come to the first class to warm up and review, and stay for the second class. The first class will work on polishing techniques necessary for the second class.
7:00-8:00 Fundamentals- Musicality I- Introduction to Milonga and Vals:
Have you always wanted to try tango, but never had the time, or maybe you have some experience, but would like to try the other role, or just work on the fundamentals to help your more advanced mores? This class will work on those tango fundamentals, teaching you how to survive on the dance floor and have fun doing it. In November, we will be focusing on musicality. There are 3 different dances in tango: tango, vals and milonga. We will learn the different rhythms, and how to dance them with confidence.
8:00-9:00 Fundamentals-
Since the fundamentals class will be a preparation for the second, everyone will participate in the second class this series.
8:00-9:00 Intermediate+- Musicality II- Phrasing Your Dancing:
So you know the rhythms, but want to connect more with the music. We will look at the structure of the music and the different orchestras. We will work to understand the phrasing of the music to maximize your fun for tango, vals and milonga. Get excited by the wealth of opportunity in tango music.

9:00-11:00 -get your fix of alternative and classical music
