January - February Series (1/4 - 2/22 2011): Ochos, Giros y Boleos
Progressive series with Leslie Gordon
Everyone will learn to lead and follow.
7:00-8:00 Fundamentals- Ochos and Giros (Pivots and Turns):
The essential moves in Argentine tango are walking, ochos (pivots with steps) and giros (turns). All the trick moves are built on these basics. If you're new to tango this series will get you comfortable with the basics and ready to go out dancing for fun. If you're experienced, we will dial in these fundamentals, reviewing the common problems for both leads and follows and get you ready and warmed up for the Boleo class.
8:00-9:00 Fundamentals- Practica
Stay for the practice led by some of the advanced students. We will review the material from the first class, and other tango basics.
8:00-9:00 Intermediate+- Boleos:
These are the flashy kicks to impress your friends and intimidate your enemies. Follows will work on a loose leg with a firm connection, and leads will learn to play with that loose leg. We will start with linear boleos in January and work into rotational boleos (with and contra) in February. At the end of the series, you will be comfortable using boleos to add drama and musicality to your tango.
